Fun Doxie Facts
  • Famous doxie owners include: John Everett Millais, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Clark Gable, Christian Slater, and John Wayne.
  • There are three varieties of Dachshund: the short-haired, the wired-haired, and the long-haired. They also come in three sizes: standard, mini, and toy.
  • The Dachshund originated in Germany in the early 1600s and was bred to courageously hunt small game (like the "Dachs", or badger). Their shortened legs allowed them to follow the small animals into their burrows.
