Doxie Back Problems??
Dodgerslist is a must read for any doxie parent BEFORE IVDD/back problems set in.  They are the best resource on line and all the support staff in their forums have been through IVDD and can provide know and knowledge!

Back Problems in South Florida??
More DRSF dachshunds than we can count have regained the ability to walk through the help of Dr. Wong and Dr. Freeman of Southeast Veterinary Neurology.  They are South Florida's experts in dachshund back problems and are amazing partners of DRSF.  Click the photo above to go directly to their page!"

Rescue is an art along with a science and a big part of the "science" part is making sure we rescue responsibly and follow protocols about ensuring any DRSF doxies are healthy before we move them to a regular foster home!

To do so, we work with Quarantine or Segregration foster homes to welcome rescue doxies to their new life along with partnering with DRSF to work through any illness that they may have upon leaving the shelter.

Wanna know the best part of it???  Not only does DRSF cover EVERTYTHING (bed, blanket, leash, harness, montly preventables), but it is only a two week commitmen?  What could be better?

"Sounds intriguing" you say...."what is the catch?" you ask :)  Click the image to the left to get some additional info on Quarantine/Segretration fostering and learn how a two week commitment with no expense on your end can help us to save a life and start a doxie down on their luck to their new life!

If you would like to join our team, please fill out a foster application on our "Foster a Doxie" Tab?
"Will You Help Me Find My Family?"
Ella holds a record that is not one that a little girl would want to have, and that is being the dog in DRSF foster care the longest, since October 17, 2010, quicky approaching three years. She has seen so many, many dogs come and go and find their families and can't understand why nobody wants her. How do you explain something like that to a sweet face like this??

On top of the fact that Ella has been waiting for her home for nearly 3 years, her foster mom can no longer care for her due to taking care of her own aging Mom and her doggie foster sister needing medical care as well and she needs us to move her soon as her home is getting more complicated by the day.

Because of everything she has been through, Ella needs some work on her manners and learning to trust again (she would do great in a home with a male) which makes her that much more of a challenge to place, BUT we know the answer is out there and we know our community can help us find it. DRSF will provide training assistance to anyone, foster or forever who might open their home to a little girl that has seen nearly 300 dogs find their homes while she still waits for hers......she is about 7 years old, cute as a button, and is so deserving of her own home.

If you think you might be the perfect match for a little girl that has been very patient, please fill out a foster or adoption application here on the DRSF website or for more info, drop us a note at info@dachshundrescuesouthflorida.com!
