Sometimes we have a dog come into our care that is extra special in that they are "differently abled" somehow. Many people pass over these little angles as they look, act, or get around differently than other dogs.  To us, they are perfect in every way and we love to find them homes as the familes that choose these extra special dogs are extra special themelves and that is what rescue is all about....
"Differently Abled" Doxies
I went home with my new mom and Spencer. Butat first it was really sad because Spencer died unexpectedly a few days later, naturally, in his mom's arms just like Hazel. Mom still misses both them both so very much-- They were with her for 15 years!!!! They went everywhere with her -- to art openings, all the best hotels and restaurants, surfing in Malibu and up to the Snowy peaks of California where they both were born-- They were Hollywood Hills dogs and were loved by so many people who they met in their travels!

I have a wonderful home with my mom-- she adores me and I adore her. We are there for each other 100%. Mom is doing physical therapy with me, swimming and all kinds of exercises to try and help me walk normally again. I am trying real hard and no matter what happens we are a team!!!

I love chasing critters in my little go cart and can run like the wind when I want, (on wheels). Not so keen on the swimming but I have to do it to try and get stronger! Every day mom prays for me and has dreams of me running like I used to-- I hope this dream will come true!!

I am very well behaved but also can be a rebel rouser when I feel like it-- I am very spirited but also REALLY SWEET!!!

Everyone tells me what a beauty I am -- all different shades of grey, and white with a drizzle of caramel-- I even have a speck of blue in my right eye!!! I have VERY soft velvety fur-- at least thats what everyone tells me :^>

If you are reading this...and are a friend of my mom's chances are you will get to meet me one of these days as we are going to go everyplace together!!

My testimonial:

Since I adopted Blossom, I cannot say just how much love and light she has brought to my life. I lover her unconditionally, just as she loves me. While I tried to do some intensive physical therapy for her for several months-- Her Vet (from whom she was rescued) said she does not think Blossom will really be able to walk normally again. That's perfectly fine-- bother for me and for her-- She is perfectly contended and I still take her most everywhere with my, either in a papoose style sling, on her wheels ar in the stroller (Stroller is actually used the least of all) She can also scoot around on her little behind quite easily, depending on the floor surface. SHE IS A HAPPY AND ACTIVE DOG!!!

Everywhere we go, she is an inspiration to kids and adults!! People really love her when they meet her and marvel at her spirit and pluck. Please tell  me how great it is that I rescued a special needs dog-- and believe me I am the one who feels blessed to give her love and care so that she knows she is safe and happy.

Its not really that much more effort than a normally functioning dog is as far as care is concerned, and once you get used to the routine you do not really notice the little extra steps needed to make their lives easier.

I wholeheartedly recommend anyone who is considering a special needs dog--to do it. It has only brought joy in my life to have Blossom!!!

Here is Blossom's story as told by her:

I was adopted about 8 months ago -- my previous owner left me at the vet cause I could not walk after my spinal surgery in November. When mom and Spencer, (her 15 year old mini dachshund) met me they fell in love right with me right away-- especially since they were still so sad about Hazel (Spencer's mate) leaving for the Rainbow Bridge in February.
